Biography and Personal Interests

I have wanted to go into medicine since I was 11, but I had never thought I would do obstetrics and gynecology. For many years, I had thought I wanted to do general surgery or pediatrics. For a while, I also considered psychiatry. Then I completed my ob-gyn rotation as a medical student and loved everything about it. I did a bit of everything, and it seemed like the right fit for me. Now, I can't imagine doing anything else. I enjoy taking care of all ages and concerns, but particularly enjoy birth control and teens.

I think my patients would tell you that I'm friendly and personable. I try hard to explain things well and give my patients options, including involving them in deciding what is best for them. I enjoy staying involved in broader medical issues as well, currently acting as co-chair for Maternal Child Health Services at Ridgeview Medical Center and serving on the Quality Committee for the Premier ObGyn group of Minnesota.

Joining Western ObGyn right after completing my training was an easy decision. I completed my residency in the Twin Cities and had heard great things about both the group and the hospital. Being from the western suburbs also made the location a huge bonus. I've been really pleased with how well the group and the hospital stay up-to-date and forward thinking when it comes to patient care and procedures. This is a unique find in a community hospital. I think I must get complimented weekly on a patient's experience through our clinic or hospital system. The providers at our clinic work hard to take excellent care of our patients, and I trust all of my partners to cover my patients when I'm not available. It's also extremely valuable that we each have different years of experience and training; we all have something unique to add to the practice.

I live in Waconia and am really enjoying the smaller community. I am lucky that my husband currently stays at home as our children are still so young; we just had our third. I am a voracious reader and have a weakness for anything that I hear is good. Running is another favorite pastime, and I can't wait to get back into this as soon as I adjust to having three children.
